On the 31st of July, Xiaomi’s ecosystem company, FIMI, launched a groundbreaking product that is set to revolutionize the drone industry – the FIMI Manta VTOL, a fixed-wing drone capable of vertical take-off and landing. Unlike the common quad-rotor design, the Manta adopts a Y3 tilt-rotor configuration, combining the hovering advantage of multi-rotors with the efficient cruising characteristics of fixed-wing drones.
The Manta drone features a modular design that allows for quick assembly and replacement. It supports quick wing disassembly, making it compact and convenient for storage and transportation. The wings are embedded with strengthening carbon rods, ensuring a lightweight design without compromising on durability.
One of the standout features of the Manta is its impressive flight time. Thanks to its wingless tail layout and lightweight body, the drone can stay airborne for up to 85 minutes. It also comes with a large battery compartment compatible with 3S1p18650, 4S1p18650, and 3S1p21700 batteries.
The Manta drone is equipped with a multifunctional equipment cabin that supports analog image transmission and high-definition image transmission. It can also accommodate the FIMI G21 Pro three-axis gimbal camera. Notably, the drone supports modification with foam parts, and the company will provide open-source 3D printing drawings for various play methods.
The FIMI Manta VTOL is priced at 999 Yuan (about US$139), with an introductory price of just 799 Yuan (about US$109). Its unique design and advanced features make it a promising contender in the drone market. As we continue to witness rapid advancements in drone technology, the FIMI Manta VTOL stands as a testament to the innovative spirit of Xiaomi’s ecosystem companies.
